The Future of Virtual Reality

Virtual Reality is at the beginning of an exponential growth curve. Over the next decade, we can expect to see several key advancements. One major trend is the movement towards wireless, high-fidelity VR. With the introduction of Wi-Fi 7 and advanced compression algorithms, the tether that currently connects high-end headsets to PCs will soon become a thing of the past. We'll also see major improvements in haptic feedback, with suits and gloves that allow users to 'feel' the virtual world. Furthermore, eye-tracking and foveated rendering will become standard, significantly reducing the graphical power required for 4K and 8K displays. Perhaps the most exciting frontier is brain-computer interfaces (BCIs), which could eventually allow users to control VR environments with their thoughts alone.
