A new milestone has been reached in the quest for the perfect wireless VR experience. Using a highly optimized Wi-Fi 7 setup, a team of researchers has successfully demonstrated a wireless VR connection with sub-5ms latency. This is virtually indistinguishable from a wired connection and marks a significant improvement over current consumer-grade wireless solutions. The achievement was made possible by leveraging the ultra-wide 320MHz channels and Multi-Link Operation (MLO) features of Wi-Fi 7. This technology is expected to reach consumer headsets by 2027.
