Foveated Rendering Explained
Foveated rendering is a technique used to optimize VR performance by rendering the area directly in your line of sight at high resolution, while decreasing the detail in your peripheral vision. This mimics how the human eye naturally works. There are two types: Fixed Foveated Rendering (FFR), which stays centered, and Dynamic Foveated Rendering (DFR), which uses eye tracking to follow your gaze. DFR provides the most significant performance gains without a noticeable loss in visual quality. Understanding this technology can help you tune your settings for the smoothest possible VR experience.
