SteamVR's Lighthouse tracking system is renowned for its precision, but it requires correct base station placement. For a standard two-station setup, place them in opposite corners of your room, at least 6.5 feet high, and angled down toward the center of the play area. Ensure they have a clear line of sight to each other and that there are no reflective surfaces like mirrors or large TV screens, which can bounce the laser signals and cause 'tracking jitter.' If you have a larger space, adding a third or fourth base station (v2.0) can virtually eliminate occlusion issues, providing 360-degree precision even when you're crouching or reaching behind your back.
