Create the perfect, safe, and immersive VR play area with our guide on space requirements, tracking interference, and room setup tips.

Optimizing Your VR Space

A good VR space, or 'play area,' is essential for both safety and immersion. Ideally, you'll want a clear area of at least 6.5ft by 6.5ft (2m x 2m) for room-scale experiences. Remove any furniture, low-hanging lights, or pets that you might bump into. If you have reflective surfaces like mirrors or glass doors, you might need to cover them, as they can interfere with tracking. Using a soft mat or rug in the center of your play area can help you stay oriented without taking off your headset. Make sure your space is well-lit, but avoid direct sunlight on your headset's lenses, as it can cause permanent damage.
